Dr. Kumar is a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist with a national reputation in embolization therapy for musculoskeletal pain. He is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR) — an honor granted through rigorous peer review for sustained excellence across clinical practice, research, and teaching.He serves as Site Principal Investigator on multiple national clinical trials, including the pivotal RESORB trial for genicular artery embolization in knee osteoarthritis, the NIH-funded PE-TRACT study, the OCCLUDE embolic registry, CLEAN PE aspiration thrombectomy trial, and the Medtronic PELE IDE study of the Onyx Liquid Embolic System.
Dr. Kumar has published more than 53 peer-reviewed articles and delivered over 95 talks at national and international meetings including SIR, RSNA, CIRSE, GEST, and ISET. He served as Chair of the Society of Interventional Radiology Early Career Section (2023–2024), and is regularly invited as course faculty and as a proctor for hospitals building embolization programs.
