Position Overview
First State Imaging is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Front Desk / Insurance Verification & Precertification Specialist to join our MRI team. This full-time position plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while ensuring accurate insurance verification, scheduling, and front office operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working collaboratively with patients, physicians' offices, and MRI technologists. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed, is required.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility.
- Obtain insurance authorizations and complete precertification requirements through insurance carrier web portals.
- Prescreen patients using MRI safety protocols and questionnaires.
- Schedule MRI appointments and coordinate with patients and referring providers.
- Contact patients regarding appointments, preparation instructions, and required documentation.
- Collect copayments, deductibles, and other patient financial responsibilities.
- Scan and accurately file documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Work closely with MRI technologists/ Radiologist to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office, radiology, imaging center, or healthcare setting is required.
- Knowledge of medical insurance verification, benefits, prior authorizations, and precertification processes is required.
- Experience using insurance carrier web portals.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
- Professional, dependable, and patient-focused attitude.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
